There are many wrong eating habits that people follow now-a-day. These habits may affect their health. When some people are sad, stressed, or have any emotional situation they turn to the kitchen and start searching for something to eat. They think that food can solve their problem, but really food can’t act as emotional reliever.
This situation is scientifically called ’emotional eating’. Emotional eating is when a person uses food to control and cope with their negative feelings, even when they not experiencing physical hunger. It’s one of the eating disorders that result in overeating and weight gain. The food they are eating is mostly high in calories, high in fat, and high in carbohydrate with minimal nutritional value like: ice-cream, chocolate, cookies, chips, French-fries, and pizza.
According to studies, 40% of people eat more when they are stressed. People who are emotional eaters tend to eat more to try to forget the problem and feel happy. This emotional result will happen for a while, because eating tasty foods can stimulate the release of a good mood through Endorphin just like exercise.
So, how can you overcome your emotional eating?!
When you have a problem, or you are under stress try to find a solution for your situation. Ask someone for a help or talk to your friends.
You can also go out for a walk or do some exercise. This will give you the same effect of eating fatty and sweet foods.
Eat only when you are hungry, and choose only non-processed, healthy, and nourishing foods.
