Do you ever wonder about other women’s lives? Like actual real day-to-day, hard working women? So often I meet one and think wow, she looks so great, works so hard and seems to get so much done! I wonder what she is doing to keep it all together like that. Or hear about someone and think wow, I wonder what she is doing so well, and how can she do all she does… without collapsing. We admire them and often have them as mentors.
With that in mind, Pathways will be interviewing women and posting their interviews here in our community journal. These are women I know personally or have been recommended to me as being women who inspire others to do more and be better — women who motivate others and are truly beautiful inside and out. Let’s peek into their lives just a bit, shall we?
She is an author of one of our favorite columns Life Talk with Dr. Ty
Her experience in life comes not only from her impressive life travels; actually living in Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Jakarta, Indonesia, and Sao Paulo, Brazil but also due her degrees in Media, South East Asian Studies, a masters in Corporate Communication, and she holds a Ph.D. in Cross-Cultural Communication in International Business… Could I even say more? Her accomplishments keep her well grounded. She lives with a smile, and it is clear that life is smiling back. Without any more delay, Pathways asked:
- List five small ways that you can share your gratitude today.
I am grateful for my life, so I am trying to make others’ lives better. I am pleased with my wealth, so I am sharing it with my family and close friends. I am grateful for my knowledge, so I am sharing it with my students and clients. I am pleased with my family, so I am sharing my time with them and try to make them happy. I am thankful for my best friends, so I am trying to always keep in touch with them.
- Write about a person in your life that you’re especially grateful for and why.
I have many. Besides family, I have some friends that THANK YOU is way too little if I want to thank them. No amount of money could pay them back, for all that they have done for me. I can’t pay them back. I can only pray for their health and happiness. I have a strong backbone of best friends who were always there for me. Always.
- What skills or abilities are you thankful to have?
A great life motivator. I can easily influence and motivate people to change for the better. That’s one reason I become a Life Coach now. I share my life experience, and people could learn from them. Sharing is caring!
- How is where you are in life today different than a year ago–and what positive changes are you thankful for?
Last year April was very chaotic and the lifestyle I led. I always run from one place to another to settle a lot of things. I was struggling at work and had so much on my plate. I am so grateful today I am with less stress (almost none!); calm, and relax.
- What about the city you live in are you grateful for?
After almost a year now, I have decided that this is the best place on earth for my family and me. I have been living in different countries before, and Jeddah is so easy and calm for me. I love the city because of many reasons; all food is halal, Mekkah is only an hour away, it is so strategically located that it only takes 6 hours to fly to London!
- What materialistic items are you most grateful for?
My handbags. I bought almost all of them with my previous salary. Very grateful that I could afford those.
- Write about the music you’re thankful to be able to listen to and why?
I love all types of music. I still listen to the great late Whitney Houston, and I think her songs are so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes.
- What foods or meals are you most thankful for?
All the food. I love to eat.
- What elements of nature are you grateful for and why?
I can stay on the beach the whole day. I even bought an apartment facing the sea. Love to hear the breeze while reading my book.
- What part of your morning routine are you most thankful for?
The kiss to and from my other half. Grateful for each day that I have him next to me; for the last 17 years.
- What is something you’re grateful to have learned this week?
It was last week that I learned how some people would never change and I shouldn’t trust them.
- When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably—relive the memory.
Every time I sat with my girlfriends. There was always something to laugh about. I can’t fake being friends with people I don’t like. Sorry.
