What I’ve Learned This Year
by Inspire on December 02, 2019
December is an excellent time for self-reflection. Of course, we should be reflective all year round. Still, right before every New Year, our embedded inclination is for preparing for new beginnings – another chance at happiness, security, fulfillment, and love.
Thomas L. Holdcroft said, “Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up depends on us.”
A grinding stone is only a tool. You can use it to either sharpen a blade or make it dull. You can make it shine and glimmer, or make it appear scratched and scraped.
Tragedy, death, financial difficulty, disaster – to name a few, will touch every single one of us. None of us are immune. But what we choose to do and how we choose to react and respond is in our control and our power. So we should ask ourselves, Will our problems cause us to give up, become weak and cynical, or will they give us inner strength, build character, and make us shine?
